22040 - Class Ge 4/4 I Electric Locomotive (G Scale)
Electric locomotive Ge 4/4 I. Completely new construction.
The first locomotives of the Ge 4/4 I series were delivered as early as 1947 - they were the RhB's first modern electric locomotives with bogies and single-axle drives. The model was the Ae 4/4 from BLS, which was delivered 3 years earlier. The locomotives proved their worth, a sign of this is that even today - after 74 years - a few of the 1,600 hp and 80 km / h fast machines are still in daily use. At the end of the 1980s, the locomotives were modernized, they received new driver's cabs and later single-arm pantographs, which - together with the red paint - changed their appearance significantly. Unfortunately, none of the locomotives have survived in their original condition.
