The IORE is one of the most powerful electric locomotives in the world- With a power output of more than 10 megawatts, the twelve-axle, nearly 46-meter-long double locomotive IORE from the company Adtranz (now Bombardier Transportation) took the iron ore transportation on the 536-kilometer railway line between Kiruna, Lula and Narvik to the next level. By 2014, a total of 17 machines of this class had been put into operation and drastically reduced transport costs thanks to the higher speed and more trailer loads.
